Arthritis – Joint Pain That Needs Deeper Healing
What is Arthritis?
Arthritis is a chronic condition that causes inflammation, stiffness, swelling, and pain in the joints. It can affect one or multiple joints and worsen with age or physical strain. There are many types of arthritis, but the most common are Osteoarthritis (due to wear and tear of joints) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks the joints).
Symptoms of Migraine
Common symptoms include joint pain, stiffness (especially in the morning), swelling, redness, reduced flexibility, and difficulty in movement. As the condition progresses, it can limit mobility, reduce strength, and affect the quality of life, making daily activities difficult.
Causes and Risk Factors
Arthritis may be caused by aging, joint injuries, obesity, genetic predisposition, or an autoimmune response. Lack of physical activity, poor posture, and unhealthy diet can aggravate the condition. In Ayurveda, arthritis is often seen as a result of imbalanced Vata dosha, which leads to dryness, stiffness, and degeneration in the joints.
Ayurvedic View (Sandhivata or Aamavata)
In Ayurveda, arthritis is categorized based on the type of dosha imbalance:
Sandhivata (Osteoarthritis) is caused by aggravated Vata, leading to joint dryness, cracking, and pain.
Aamavata (Rheumatoid Arthritis) results from accumulation of undigested toxins (Ama) and imbalance in Vata and Kapha, causing inflammation, swelling, and restricted movement.
Ayurveda believes that poor digestion, toxin buildup, cold weather, and improper diet/lifestyle contribute to the progression of arthritis.
Ayurvedic Treatment Approach
Ayurvedic treatment for arthritis focuses on detoxification, dosha balancing, pain relief, and strengthening of joints. Panchakarma therapies like Abhyanga (oil massage), Swedana (steam therapy), Basti (medicated enema), and Virechana (purgation) are commonly used to remove toxins and lubricate joints. Herbal medicines like Rasna, Guggulu, Shallaki, and Ashwagandha help reduce inflammation and support cartilage repair. Dietary changes and regular yoga are also key to long-term management
Why Choose Natural Healing for Arthritis?
Unlike conventional painkillers that offer temporary relief, Ayurveda and Homeopathy aim to treat arthritis from its root cause. These systems reduce inflammation, improve joint lubrication, restore flexibility, and slow down joint degeneration. Most importantly, they promote overall wellness and help patients live pain-free, active lives — naturally and safely.
